Marketing-Communications Committee

Purpose

The Marketing Committee is an advisory committee to the NWSF staff. Its role is to act as a sounding board for marketing strategies and tools, develop and hone innovative ideas, and provide feedback on marketing activities as requested by the NWSF staff.

 

Time Commitment

Attend a minimum of four Committee meetings per year via Zoom (6 total in 1 year). 

Estimated time commitment: 1-5 hours/month depending on needs. Please inquire with Jo McNeal about the meeting schedule and the next meeting date. 

 

Committee Structure 

Three – five members, one being the Executive Director and a Board member. 

 

Location 

Zoom meeting during the work week, every other month. To be scheduled at the close of the former meeting. A Zoom link will be provided for each meeting scheduled.

 

Marketing and Communications

  • Support overall comprehensive marketing and communications strategy.

  • Partner with staff to oversee a consistent and active communication strategy to all stakeholders for the purposes of program messaging, fundraising, awareness, and branding.

  • Contribute expertise to assist staff in establishing organizational marketing, branding and communication plans, and initiatives.

  • Build on current brand and develop creative marketing outreach that will drive new corporate partnerships/sponsorships and supporters.

  • Collaborate with staff on strategies and development for various marketing communications channels and web presences including electronic/social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.), website, and printed collateral.

  • Maintain and build relationships with key industry partners and members of the press in conjunction with staff efforts.

  • Identify key speaking engagements for staff to help market and brand NWSF.

  • Experience with the development of branding and marketing strategies (preferred).

  • Graphic design expertise (preferred).

  • Social media experience – even if personal use experience, (preferred).

  • Demonstrated interest in our mission.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Comfortable working in a fluid environment and taking initiative.

  • Be an expert on the organization in general, including strategic direction, and an expert on Board matters, such as major issues, policies and procedures, and board priorities.

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in meetings and task forces; seen as a leader.

  • Have a network of community/business contacts and a willingness to reach out as an ambassador of the organization for awareness and fundraising.

  • Fundraising background (preferred).

  • Strategic Planning experience (preferred).

 

The committee achieves goals by:

  • Working with staff to develop a marketing-communications plan that identifies formal and informal mechanisms to dialogue with the community.

  • Working with staff to develop key messages articulated to supporters and partners.

  • Promoting the organization’s services to the community.
