Development Committee
Purpose
The Development Committee is responsible for implementing a major donor fundraising strategy. The committee’s main purpose is to identify and develop the organization’s prospects. These prospects should represent the 20% who will fund 80% of the budget. In addition, the team creates and implements the entire development strategy for major gift fundraising.
Time Commitment
One hour, every other month virtual Zoom meeting – please inquire with Jo McNeal about the meeting schedule and the next meeting date.
Committee Structure
Three – five members, one being a member of the BOD.
Locations
Zoom meetings will be set every other month in the evenings. A Zoom link will be provided to you when joining the committee.
Qualifications
All committee volunteers must be dependable, pleasant-natured, and can problem-solve. In addition, you must demonstrate enthusiasm, passion, and the desire to better the Northwest Sarcoma Community. Nonprofit/Board of Director organizational knowledge or desire to learn highly recommended.
Committee Role and Responsibilities

Makes a significant gift to the mission and is willing to invite two to three others to make a similar gift.

Assist in annually reviewing and updating the case statement.

Assist in identifying prospects from the segmented donor list.

Assist in making connections and building relationships with prospects.

Assist in the creation of the annual major gift plan.

Help to identify others who may be members of this committee.

Communicate and document any solicitations and thank you acknowledgments to donors assigned to you.

Participate in fundraising activities targeted at other donors.

Assist in finding your replacement if/when you step down.
