HELP$ Financial Assistance Program

The Northwest Sarcoma Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to providing education and support to patients and families who are living with this specific form of cancer. We strive to provide timely and accurate information regarding research and treatment options, and offer overall support by creating local networks throughout the Northwest. The Foundation is pleased to offer HELP$, a need-based financial aid program for adult sarcoma patients currently undergoing treatment. Our service area includes the five-state region of Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Montana and Idaho.

In 2010, eligible patients may receive up to $500 in assistance for the year, based on documented financial need and availability of funds. Individuals may apply for assistance through their social worker, clinic or case manager, to help with expenses such as utilities, public transportation, childcare and others as outlined in the supporting materials.

As our program is relatively new, we have decided to initially focus our efforts on adult patients, for whom fewer resources exist. There are a number of other programs which are in place for children, such as Children's Cancer Association, Make a Wish, and Candlelighter's for Children with Cancer. As the Northwest Sarcoma Foundation grows, we hope to expand our reach to pediatric patients, as well.

Social worker, clinic support staff and/or patient navigator may download the HELP$ information and application form online, and use the following contact information to request specific information regarding guidelines and eligibility. If you have an adult sarcoma patient who meets the stated criteria, please assist your patient in completing the application and either forward via e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it g, fax 503-297-6932, and/or mail to Northwest Sarcoma Foundation, 2065 NW Miller Road, #404, Portland, Oregon, 97229.
